Building a National Energy Innovation Network

Recognizing that meeting the growing demand for clean energy innovations is wrought with regulatory challenges and disparate players who need to find ways to connect, the Kauffman Foundation has formed partnerships with federal and regional governments, private industry, and entrepreneurs to build a national network and find solutions.

At the White House

The effort was launched on May 7, 2010, when the Kauffman Foundation, in partnership with the White House, federal agencies, and businesses hosted the White House Energy Innovation Conference. The conference brought together leaders in an industry wrought with regulatory challenges and disparate players who need to find ways to connect in order to meet the growing demand for innovations.

A comprehensive summary of discussions and recommendations is available here.

Across the country

This partnership with the White House was the starting point to building a base for the Kauffman Foundation's Energy Innovation Network. The Foundation will continue to partner with the federal government, businesses, and nonprofits to hold regional energy innovation meetings over the summer and early fall to support energy entrepreneurs and high-growth energy businesses.

The first regional summit took place in Omaha, Neb. in June 2010.

Subsequent meetings taking place in Portland, Ore., and Phoenix, Ariz.
